This article presents the overview of archaeological excavations of the barrow assemblages, which were carried out in 1982 at the Staro-Yabalaklynsky necropolis, Chishmy district, Republic of Bash- kortostan. The excavated barrow displayed a round mound having the diameter of 8.9 metres and the height of 0.2 metres with a stone fence (diameter 6.3–7.5 metres) enclosing its main part. Contained within the centre of the mound was the demolished pit-grave. The burial pit was found to be 2 metres and 1.35 metres square, oriented east-west and surrounded by vertically standing stone slabs. Excavations revealed several stones on the surface of the burial bit, which were identified as the remains of the grave walls, and some scattered human bones (skull, lower jaw, long bones and ribs) at the bottom of the northeastern part of the grave. The burial assemblage consisted of one sherd of unornamented pottery and a blade fragment of the bronze double-edged spear point knife. A number of features suggest that the barrow from Staro-Yabalaklynsky necropolis belongs to the Abashevo culture. For example, the form of the barrow (a round mound with a stone fence) is typical for the aforementioned cultural communion. The burial pit covered with stone also presents the most common type of Abashevo burial pattern. The discovery of a bronze knife fragment increases the sample of Abashevo bar- rows with knives from the Staro-Yabalaklinsky necropolis to three cases. Radiocarbon analysis of the barrow assemblages from Cis-Urals region suggests a date for the studied grave between the 21st and the 19th century BC.
