Ufa Archaeological Herald

The article deals with the analysis of archeological materials related to medieval nomads of the late 12^th - early 13^th centuries from the burial mound Aznayevsky-2 located in the forest-steppe zone of the Southern Urals. It is the only archeological monument of this type on the territory of present-day Bashkorto­stan. The authors link the appearance of such stone burial mounds with the Mongol invasion. Similar burial mounds formed of stones are found in the steppe TransUrals and on the territory of the Sayan Mountains (the Askizsky culture).
